Mrs_Corbett wrote 8 Days Ago (positive) 1I've lost 2.5 pounds since returning to the island. I have 5.5 to go! Woohoo!!! I'm not eating after six and I'm avoiding added sugars. I exercised 3 times last week.
1 pointJan wrote 9 Days Ago (positive) 1Wow, finally I hit a ten pound loss! I can not believe how long it took! I was starting to get discouraged. I stayed at that weight for over a week!!! I was determined to not give in though...for a number of days the scale didn't move at all....and I was starting to think this effort is not worth it if I am not going to go down...but it is worth it and I am glad I didn't give in and eat something that would make me gain! I pray that everyone is doing well, and that you are continuing to meet your goals! :)

1 pointMrs_Corbett wrote 15 Days Ago (positive) 1'Did my exercise routine tonight. Yes!!! (I sure need it!) :)
1 pointMrs_Corbett wrote 15 Days Ago (positive) 1From Judy Kline, who cannot access fruitiply very well. Hi Lisa, So nice to get your e-mail.
Thank you for keeping me in the loop regarding efforts I SHOULD be making toward "slow and steady weight loss/management". How wonderful that you got to spend such an extended time here in the States with your family---with your every growing family! Congratulations on the 3 new grandbabies! What a blessing!Congratulations on getting right back to your exercise routine now that you are home too. So easy NOT to get back to good habits once you have been away from them for any length of time. Were you able to pretty much stick to your rule of no eating after 6 while you were visiting? Seems that would be difficult, as you kind of have to adapt to other's schedules when you are visiting them. You have been such an encouragement to me, Lisa. I thank the Lord for you and your words of wisdom and support. Mostly just in reminding that this is a spiritual battle and to keep my thoughts focused on the Lord. And not to give up, no matter how many times I mess up! God bless you! May He touch you in a special way right now and show you how He is working in your life to bless you and use you to be a blessing to others. In His Love, Judy1 pointJan wrote 17 Days Ago (positive) 1Wow...this morning is so exciting! I like to weigh myself in the morning shortly after I get up. It think this is the closest that you will get to your actual weightloss. I am almost at a ten pound loss. I would do actual exercise, but I am exhausted and I have no energy.
1 pointMrs_Corbett wrote 18 Days Ago (positive) 1Tonight I raked leaves, jogged in place for 5 minutes, did thirty leg lifts on each leg, did 25 sit ups, 25 push ups and am drinking a bottle of water. :) I'm not eating after 6 and not eating added sugar. Blessings! Encourage us all by telling us what you're doing!
1 pointJan wrote 21 Days Ago (positive) 1Since finding out we were expecting I was really worried about gaining any weight with this pregnancy since I still have not lost the weight that I gained with Lizzy. I have been trying to not eat sugar, I am staying away from white breads and white pasta. I switched to Eziekel Bread which has no flour in it.....and trying to drink lots of water. Since starting all of this I have lost 8 pounds. It is decieving though because I am pregnant and I am so use to my stomach going down not staying the same...while trying to loose weight. So even though I am excited to loose weight I can not tell that I did! Hahaha!
1 pointMrs_Corbett wrote 22 Days Ago (positive) 1We arrived home on the island on Saturday night. I weighed in on Sunday morning at 8 pounds over my goal weight. I am back on the plan of no eating after 6 pm and no refined sugars added. There may have been some sugar in a fried dumpling I tried at the Champion House this morning, also I expect in the corn porridge. Both were new to me and quite yummy! We took a precious missionary couple out for brunch. We enjoyed Ackee and saltfish, another fish dish, breadfruit (a starch used like potato but larger and grows on trees). fruit and an egg. Yum!
1 pointMrs_Corbett wrote 59 Days Ago (positive) 1Well, I'm over a month into my trip and have gained 5.5 pounds. :) I've made too many exceptions during visits to family. :) Here we go on the losing again. :) I did better today and plan to continue. I am using my regular methods of no sugar and no eating after 6 pm. It feels good to be hungry tonight. I'm not getting enough exercise yet. I hope to improve that. (This sounds like an old re-run. :) How's everyone doing?
1 pointMrs_Corbett wrote 102 Days Ago (positive) 1From Mrs. Kline: God bless you for the reminders to keep on track and exposing areas of weakness. I am back to going to weight loss support group know as TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly). The last part of our weekly "pledge" is: "Even though I overeat in private, my excess poundage is there for all the world to see." How true! The whole world does see the results of our overeating, but God sees us every time we overindulge---publicly or in private. The Bible says He will make a way to escape the temptation---I just need to remember to look for the exit!
2 pointsJan wrote 104 Days Ago (positive) 1I am starting to think I am not meant to follow my weight on a scale!!!! The scale that I waited so long and patiently for does not work right! :( I have not posted a weight loss for a while because my scale is have huge variences every time you step on it...some times by 20 pounds!!! Since Christmas I have had one day of set backs with having sugar. I was given a drink by a family member that purchased it for me and I felt bad about not drinking it. I am pretty excited about how well I am doing, with my goals of not eating after six and not eating sugar. We had a fellowship at church on Sunday evening and I was not even tempted to eat! That is a huge win win! With so many awesome choices that was once very hard to do. In studing for this exam to be a professional fitness trainer, I learned that for every ounce of energy your body burns you need three ounces of water! I knew you needed water for weightloss but I was surprised by just how much! Just thought I would pass that along! :)

You sure read my mind well-----"you read that all too fast" was exactly what I did! I do get weighted down with guilt and fear, and it keeps me frozen in long standing bad habits. I hadn't thought much about anger being an issue with me as I don't lose my temper (that is one area where I do have good control
). As you suggested, when I dig a little deeper, those feeling of hurt, resentment, (and yes, anger) are bubbling under at times. Again thank you for taking us back to the Bible to search for root causes and real answers to problems that seem physical but are truly spiritual. In His Love, Judy2 pointsJan wrote 116 Days Ago (positive) 1I am down six pounds so far. Praise the Lord for each step of progess! :) I am thankful for the Lord strength to help me to do this. It is getting easier and easier to not eat after six and to turn down sugar. I have not met my goals of working out yet.
1 pointJan wrote 127 Days Ago (positive) 1Praise the Lord that I have lost two more pounds since the last time that I posted! I am excited about how well what I am doing is working! I look forward to continuing to loose weight! I have not met my workout goals, but I am thankful to have lost the two pounds!
2 pointsMrs_Corbett wrote 129 Days Ago (positive) 1I lost two more pounds. I'm glad because I still had some fat around the middle I wanted rid of after reaching my goal weight. I'd like to lose about three more. :)

Hi Lisa, Thank you for sending e-mails letting me know how you and others are doing with weight loss/management. You and Jan are great examples and an encouragement for others to follow.I came down sick with upper respiratory infection/bronchitis shortly after Christmas and am just now (hopefully) getting over it. Haven't been out of the house for 2 weeks (for my own sake---and to protect others too!). Sure have missed my water aerobic exercises! I didn't realize how much they were helping til I couldn't get out to do them any more. My muscle tone and balance have decreased quite a bit and joint pain increased a lot. Praying I'll be able to get back to it next week. I haven't followed any kind of structured eating plan lately, I'm afraid, but the Lord has been bringing to mind Gal.5:16-18, and I remember what you told me about weight management being a spiritual problem so I am more and more trying to daily (and moment by moment, really) walk in the Spirit. I've also found Romans 8:1-4 to be helpful. I have always so identified with what Paul was saying in Romans 7:14-24----what I should do, I don't; and what I shouldn't do, I do!! Going on to the next few verses and focusing on them may help me, like Paul, to be delivered "from the body of this death."I do pray this finds you feeling well and continuing with your weight management program now that you have successfully reached your goal. Thanks again for being such an encouragement to me. Love in Christ, Judy3 pointsMrs_Corbett wrote 132 Days Ago (positive) 1I am doing fine with the weight control, but need to do better with my exercise.
3 pointsJan wrote 132 Days Ago (positive) 1I have lost another pound! :) This is soooooo hard, but I am so glad to be doing it....one pound closer to be where I want to be. I am substituting honey for all sweetners and I am eating whole grain pasta instead of regular. I am not meeting my goals of getting on the teadmill 3-5 times a week...but that is still a goal.
